Abstract: A description is given of a hydrosalinity nodel for Lake Moondarra, a water supply reservoir in semi - arid north west Queensland, Australia. The simulation model developed, SALJOS, consists of hydrology and salinity components, both of which model the catchment and water storage responses. The usefulness of SALJOS in predicting the future salinity and hydrology of Lake Moondarra for various management options has been demonstrated. It has provided an assessment of the effects on both water quantity and water quality of changing the dam spillway level and has been used to investigate the consequences of alternative polic- ies for handling point sources of salt in the catchment.
