Abstract: In coastal and estuarine areas, waves and tidal currents always coexist, which has great influence on sediment transport. I t’s of great significance to research the numerical simulation of sediment movement under co-action of tidal currents and waves for harbor development, reclamation, coast utilization etc. State-of-the-art of the sediment transport simulation under co-action of waves and currents is reviewed. First, the hydrodynamic simulation is briefly reviewed, which is mainly about simulation of currents movement effected by waves and wave modelling affected by currents. Then, some key problems in sediment transport modelling are focused on, which are sediment incipient motion, cohesive and noncohesive sediment simulation, equilibrium and non-equilibrium sediment transport simulation, the source/sink term, the diffusion coefficient, bottom boundary conditions, as well as some issues in 1DV, 2DH and 3D version, etc. In addition, the modelling strategies for wave-current-sediment interaction are briefly presented. In the end, discussion and further development approach are proposed.
