Abstract: Geocells is a good alternative to combine concrete with geosynthetics to obtain flexible revetments to support high stresses during river flood when high damage sediment material is transport during high lever of water in rivers. This special characteristic is of special importance when defining a solution for long river protection. This work will explain with detail the structural behaviour as well as leakage advantage available with this type of technics. Many of the research done in our labs or university labs are explained, as wel as exaplme of how this technical alternative could be selected as a modern solution. Cost comparison, as well as environmental issues are explained too, so is possible to consider a sustainable solution for river projects. Actual experiences as well as actual Standards make this alternative a very complete one for big projects even in Government bids.
