Abstract: Due to climate change, preparation for extreme floods is becoming more important. In this study, the numerical model for assessment of the levee vulnerability based on erosion analysis was developed and the levee vulnerability in Korean rivers was evaluated. The developed numerical model reads the hydraulic statistics of the river using the HEC-RAS results data, calculates the mean flow and shear stress due to waves, and calculates the erosion length of the embankment. The geometry data in HEC-RAS is read into the model to calculate the embankment width of each cross-section and examine the possibility of collapse. Monte-Carlo Simulation was used to consider the heterogeneity of the levee component. The vulnerability of levee was evaluated for various flood volumes by applying it to actual rivers, and the changes in levee vulnerability due to levee components and vegetation were examined.
