Abstract: Continuous simulation modelling (CSM) reports of stormwater pollutants & runoff is used to meet requirements for WSUD / Rainwater Reuse/ IWM / Land development and other projects such as environmental improvement and infrastructure development across Australia. This requires specialty knowledge and incurs time and cost penalties to consultants. The reports have common & standard requirements that provide an opportunity for automation. Traditional CSM software in Australia such as MUSIC X & MUSIC 6 require a subscription leading consultants to bear the cost of license or sub-consultants. Legacy tools like Melbourne Water’s STORM Calculator have tried to alleviate this in the past but have not been updated to comply with new modelling guidelines. These tools are currently not fit-for-purpose and cannot demonstrate compliance with Best Practice Environmental Management Guidelines (BPEMG). Additionally, reports generated by these tools provide almost no details. The project objectives are to addresses the challenges above and ensure compliant modelling and reporting is made accessible to support WSUD requirements in planning. The outcome is SU Calculator (SU), an online tool that generates compliant WSUD models and reports based on each authority’s requirements and guidelines.
