Theoretical and Numerical CFD Investigation of an Innovative Buoyancy-Driven Hydraulic Turbine

Abstract: Buoyancy forces can be found in several hydraulic phenomena, and they are the driving force in most wave energy converter power plants. In this work a theoretical model and numerical simulations were presented to estimate the performance of a new buoyancy-driven turbine, finding a maximum hydraulic theoretical efficiency of up to 77%.
