Abstract: An attempt has been made to characterize global warming by analysing long-term trends of annual maximum lake surface water temperatures (SWT) from 22 lakes in Austria. Data were compiled from records of the Hydrographical Service of Austria. Results indicate significant increase of SWT in most of the cases.
