Abstract: Erosion of material surface in hydro-turbines due to impact of solid particles transported in the flow has been a challenge to several fields of engineering. Due to the climate change issue there is a growth of attention on the problem. In the present work a simplified model for the abrasion risk assessment in hydro-turbines will be presented. Moreover, will be described and analyzed CFD simulations to predict erosion effects and related mitigation methods and approaches.
