Effective Numerical Modelling of Transcritical Flows

Abstract: An efficient numerical method is described for solving the Saint Venant equations, which can be used to describe rapidly varying unidirectional flow. The numerical model is then applied to hypothetical cases including a dam break, various idealised channel flows as well as against laboratory experiments.
