Abstract: The experimental results show a relation between discharge and water level drop over the wood patches. The parametric model is able to reproduce this relation and to extrapolate the results to other areas with different river and wood geometries. The model shows that backwater effects can be reduced by manipulating the obstruction ratio and by optimizing the location in the cross section where wood patches are placed.
