Abstract: The paper presents and discusses recent outcomes on the development of the CECO wave energy converter (WEC), namely with respect to its hydrodynamic response, implementation and validation of a time domain numerical model of the concept, as well as the assessment of its power production in the Atlantic coast of the Iberian Peninsula. Overall, important insights on the operating principle and performance of CECO were obtained. In addition, it was found that the efficiency of CECO capturing wave energy is quite high, although it was proved that the current CECO design has to be modified to improve its performance in most energetic coastal stretches. Hence, the next research steps are also presented and discussed.
