Abstract: In this paper we present a stakeholder-adapted methodology to create MAR feasibility maps for the Mijares and Palancia River basins in Spain. The methodology uses multicriteria decision analysis to assess the MAR feasibility. It includes two approaches for weighting factors relevant to MAR objectives which are Streamflow 1, based on expert opinions, and Streamflow 2, which incorporates stakeholder participation. Three thematic layers such as intrinsic suitability, water availability, and water demand are considered to determine the feasibility of MAR. The methodology includes constraint mapping, criteria selection, standardization, and weighting coefficient assignment to generate feasibility maps. The feasibility maps are validated through stakeholder engagement processes, maximizing their applicability in supporting decision-making for MAR projects.
