Abstract: Geophysical prospecting is often used in hydrogeological and environmental research, since it allows a non-invasive, rapid and economical evaluation. The aim of this study is to determine the applicability of the resistivity 2D method in the investigation of moisture zones for the identification of groundwater in crystalline fields in the region of Amazon forest, Brazil. The results allowed to correlate the resistivity values with the geological features. The occurrence of two distinct layers of resistivity was observed, one was characterized by ranges of high values greater than 4,000 Ohm. m and another of low values >4,000 Ohm. m. High resistivity values were correlated to the crystalline basement, while low resistivity values may be associated with weathered rock layers. The results also showed that very low values of resistivity may be associated with a possible zone of humidity in the shallow layers and possible fracture zones filled with water in the crystalline rocks.
