Abstract: Located in the middle reaches of the Yellow River from Hekouzhen to Longmen, the Sanchuan River Basin in Shanxi Province spans 176.4 kilometers in length and covers an area of 4,161 square kilometers. Since the 1970s, this watershed has been designated one of China's eight critical soil and water conservation areas. Both climate change and human activities in the Yellow River Basin have profound impacts on the water and sand processes in the basin. This study takes the Sanchuan River basin in west Jin as the object, based on the measured hydrological data from 1997 to 2016, and adopts the regression analysis method to elucidate the influence of vegetation changes brought by soil and water conservation measures on the runoff, sand transport, and through the study, it can be scientifically recognized the influence of vegetation changes on the water and sand mutation in the Sanchuan River basin, which is of great significance for the ecological conservation of the Yellow River Basin and the development of the country with high quality.
