Abstract: The primary facilities responsible for mitigating urban flooding are street inlets and roadside gutters. Rainwater falling on urban roadways enters roadside channels or stormwater conduits through inlets and manholes. However, various inlet shapes are installed without detailed standards specifying the inlet opening area, which determines their hydraulic capacity. This study investigates and quantitatively analyzes the drainage performance of different inlet configurations. The results indicate that variations in outflow capacity are more strongly affected by inlet geometry than by blockages within the gutter. These findings highlight the need for further experiments and verification regarding inlet design, which may contribute to the prevention and mitigation of urban flooding.
