Abstract: Reservoir siltation reduces efficiency, yet historical data often hinders accurate sedimentation estimates. This study evaluates the Echoes 10000 Sub-Bottom Profiler (SBP) for estimating sediment thickness in the Itumbiara and Batalha reservoirs, Brazil. Geophysical surveys covered 4,300 km, validated by high-resolution bathymetry and sediment sampling. The SBP accurately distinguished sediment layers with a 4% relative error, revealing thicker fine sediment deposits in deeper areas (>20 m). The system proves effective for filling historical data gaps and supporting reservoir management strategies.
