Abstract: This study aims to provide an analysis of precipitation variability at the regional scale, based on the data series recorded at 46 meteorological stations in Dobrogea, Romania. The series characteristics were assessed by various statistical methods, whereas the change points detection was done by an MDL – based approach. Spatial trend was determined based on the spline smoothing and the Most Probable Precipitation Method.
