Abstract: Dams significantly alter hydrosedimentary regimes, conditioning reservoir lifespan to siltation rates. This study analyzes sub-bottom profiling (SBP) data and bathymetric models of the Itumbiara HPP reservoir, Brazil, to map bottom morphology and estimate sediment thickness by distinguishing pre- and post-dam deposits. Results indicate sediment accumulation ranging from 0 to 1.33 m, with a total capacity loss of less than 2% over 44 years, suggesting minimal impact on storage. Consequently, combining available data with SBP proves to be a consistent and effective tool for understanding sediment deposition dynamics and aiding reservoir management.
