Abstract: This work presents a one-dimensional hydraulic model for simulating sluice gates in open-channel flows. The gate is represented as an internal boundary where the local Riemann Problem between upstream and downstream states is solved exactly. This yields a robust and physically consistent treatment of gate-controlled flows, especially in sharp transients and during rapid transitions between flow regimes.
