Abstract: Rainwater harvesting is actively promoted in many regions of the world for various reasons. In drier regions, it is used as an alternative water source for non-potable uses. In wetter and/or more urbanized regions the contribution for reducing the amount of rainwater entering the stormwater networks is equally, if not more, relevant. The literature focuses mostly on modelling rainwater harvesting systems without snow, however precipitation in the form of snow will store water in the roofs, creating a discontinuity between precipitation and runoff that will impact the assessment of the rainwater harvesting systems performance. The present communication presents a methodology and the results of its application to a case study in Trondheim, Norway.
