Abstract: This work presents a sensitivity analysis of the Soil and Water Assessment Tool (SWAT) hydrological model to the Curve Number (CN2) parameter on the surface runoff in the Maxaranguape River Basin, located in the Northeast of Brazil (NEB). The CN2 is based on soil hydrological class, landuse and land cover (LULC) and Antecedent Moisture Condition (AMC). This parameter was varied by -30%, -10%, +10% and +30 of your initial prescription. These variations in CN2 caused considerable changes in surface runoff ranging from -79% to 107%, which shows the attention that must be given when prescribing this parameter in SWAT.
