Abstract: The global security of the WEFE (Water-Energy-Food-Ecosystems) nexus is increasingly worrisome due to the impacts of population growth, unsustainable resource consumption, non-concerted management of the nexus sectors, and climate change. Considering that trade-offs within complex challenges often result in disputes among the research community, it becomes essential to establish a consensus among stakeholders supported by scientific evidence to achieve sustainable societies. This paper presents the findings of a stakeholders’ workshop concerning the WEFE nexus characteristics of a highly intensive agricultural Mediterranean area, namely Pinios River Basin (PRB) situated in central Greece.
