Abstract: In the lower reach of the Magdalena river between the city of Calamar (K 1.500) and its mouth (K 1.612) few have been the man interferences: the construction of the jetties in the mouth of the river (K 1.612) between 1925 and 1966, the construction of the Pumarejo bridge (K 1.590) between 1970 and 1974 and the man-made meander cutoff of the Garzas meander (K 1.508 -. K 1.519) between 1985 and 1986, aiming to control an erosion process at the outer bank of the bend.
