Abstract: The 5 Km.coastal strip constitutes 7%of Spanish territory butone third of the population lives in this zone,which means that the populationdensity is over four times the national average.This difference increases inthe Summer,because 80%of the tourist population goes to the coast.Itcould be said that a rapid process of concentration is taking place which isexerting a considerable pressure on the coastal area and has increased tseconomic and social importance.
