Abstract: Today, the numerical hydraulics in dam reservoirs has been greatly expanded and fully established. It has been applied to predict the environmental conditions of dam reservoirs or to improve their environments. However, it is a imminent task to take data from the field observation, and to meticuleusly study them. In this paper, the dynamic environmental observation system (DEOS) is introduced, which has been installed at the Kazaya dam reservoir. By using preliminary field observation, the vertical velocity profiles in the stratified flow are discussed, and also the field measurement is very important as a sure source of phenomenal data for developing mathematical model.
