Abstract: (1)The boom in the property market in the UK in the eightiesbrought to light the financial potential of property owned byBritish Waterways.Invariably_this was found to be in primelocations in cities or very close to urban environments.Over3000 km of inland waterways_together with a number of docks,reservoirs and other such facilities are the remains of anextensive infrastructure for transportation by waterways startedin the early eighteenth century.
