Abstract: A fast and convenient polynomial approximation method for the computation of non- linear celerities is presented. The method approximates non-linear celerity values derived by the Fourier approximation method described by Rienecker and Fenton, and is applicable to all practical water depths and wave steepness conditions. This polynomial approximation obviates the need to run the algorithm based on Rienecker and Fenton's method which is computationally costly.
