Abstract: The random wave breaking model by Goda (1975) was applied for the computation of longshore currents by Longuet-Higgins' model (1970). Empirical formulation of the maximum speed and distribution of longshore currents has been made for unidirectional random waves. Effects of directional spectrum on longshore currents have been examined for the Mitsuyasu-type spreading function with S_ (max) =10 to 75.
