Abstract: Over the last few decades the Togo coastline has suffered intense erosion as a directresult of the construction of the port of Lomé.More recently, this erosion has becomeparticularly menacing for two sites whose value is not only economic but also historicaland cultural. This has encouraged the Togolese government to consider measures to putan end to this phenomenon. Detailed studies comprising field surveys and work involving drawings, mathematicaland physical models have been carried out in order to define a protective system whichwould be capable of saving the threatened infrastructures permanently.
