Calculation of Flow and Bed Deformation with a General Non-Orthogonal Coordinate System

Abstract: A two dimensional numerical model to calculate the flow and bed deformation in a general non-orthogonal coordinate system is introduced. The model is used. to calculate the flow in a meandering channel with compound cross section, and the bed deformation in a channel with abrupt increases and decreases in width. The calculated results compare well with observed values, supporting the validity of the new model.
