Development of a New Finite Difference Method on Advection-Diffusion Problem

Abstract: In this paper it is found that a pure advection equation is computed precisely and easily by using newly developed finite difference method. This new finite difference method is derived from discretizing a 2nd order wave equation instead of 1st order pure advection equation. From many numerical experiments, parameters κ and θ involved in this method could be determined as functions of α. This method has both accuracy like the characteristics methods and flexibility of application like other standard finite difference methods.
