Abstract: The virtual piezometric height method, traditionally adopted for the analysis of unsteady flow in pressurized pipes, is used here to determine the steady flow conditions in looped networks consisting of branches with discharge delivery on the way. Assuming as initial condition that there is no deliveryfrom the networkand that the heads are hydrostatic, with zero flowing discharge, the simultaneous diversion of water by all the users is assumed and the resulting unsteady flow is observed over time until it reaches the steady flowcondition which is the solution to the problem. The method is certainly convergent and applicable also to highly branched networks.
