Abstract: The influence from the turbine characteristics on the stability of a turbine on separated resistive load has been analysed both in the time and in the frequency space. In both cases linearized Laplace-transformed equations have been used. For the frequency analyses they've been solved on a computer, while they've been used as basis and made discrete for analysis in the time space by a real time program. The analyses were done for Kaplan and Prancis turbines withQn=0.5 and Qn=-0.5. Qn=0 for Pelton turbines. Further they were done only in the optimum point, that means only the influence from gn was evaluated. The model neglected the influence from moveable runner blades, resulting in larger computed stability margins than real margins for Kaplan turbines /2/ and /3/. From all analyses it 's clear that the turbine characteristics play an important role on the stability. They should therefore be included in the model foranalysis.
