Abstract: The tides in the southeastern North Sea(Fig.1)are semidiurnalwith ranges from 0.3 to 4.0 m and with relatively small variationsof spring and neap tides. So the tidal conditions -including meansea level(MSL)-could be analyzed by means of mean tide curves(Siefert and Lassen,1985):Data from about 200 continuously andtemporarily recording stations along the Dutch,German, and Danishcoasts have been used. The results demonstrate a more or_less ho-rizontal MSL along the coastline with a scattering of±5 cm.Further details are still under investigation in this GermanCoastal Engineering Board(KFKI)project that is sponsored by theFederal Gouvernment.
