Abstract: The study of River Ravi Diversion in Pakistan is described.The work wasrequired to protect a village and major canal on the right bank of theriver.The work was successfully carried out.Newly excavated channel wasactivated by using different techniques with local materials and labours.The channel was developed and the final closure f the main river was made.The need for careful management and forethought is emphasised for work ofthis nature. The paper describes the difficulties encountered with this major piece ofdiversion work and describes the solutions used to overcome them.It ishoped that through this paper the experience gained can be passed on toother engineers for use when implementing such works.
