Abstract: A brief account is given of an experimental and numerical study of turbulent flow across a staggered tube bundle. The mean velocity field and turbulence characteristics around a tube were obtained from simultaneous measurements with a two color laser Doppler anemometer system. The numerical investigation involves the application of the k-epsilon turbulence model with an improved technique for near-wall modelling.
