Abstract: Results of a recent analysis of bed coarsening during bed degrada-tion are incorporated into a kinematic-wave model to develop a closed-form, implicit model for temporal development of river-bed degradation downstreamf rom dams. The kinematic-wave model is verified against results obtained f romIALLUVIAL, a computer-based simulation model for rivers in nonequilibrium.
