Abstract: In order to understand the basic mechanism of interaction among flow, sediment transport and bed profile, non-uniform and non-equilibrium bed loadtransport caused by non-uniformity offlowand subsequently accomplishedequilibrium transverse bed profile are investigated in an idealized alluvialchanne1 with continuous expansion and contraction.
