Abstract: Experiments were conducted to study the effect of suspended sedimentson the diffusion of a line source of scalar contaminant in open-channel flows. While turbulent velocity was relatively unaffected, the reduction in integrallength scale and turbulent diffusivity were 73% and 69% fqr flows with averagesediment concentrations by volume of 3.8xl0~-4 and 1.9x10~-3 respectively.
