Abstract: Sediment movement and the evolution of riverbeds in the fluctuating backwater regions of reservoirs are renarkable and complicated due to frequent varia-tions of water stage. A preliminary analysis and summary of the character-istics of sediment movement, and aggradation and erosion of bed levels in the fluctuating backwater regions of reservoirs are presented in this paper, based on observed data and practice in reservoirs in china.
