Abstract: An inquiry of the World Meteorological Organization in 1983 showed that the I-Extremal and the Log-normal frequency distribution types as well as the Weibull plotting position formula are preferably used in hydrolo gy. The choice of a particular distribution is often subjective or historical. 55agencies from 27 countries took part in the inquiry.
