Abstract: It is known that tsunamis around the Noto Peninsula, Japan exhibit unique behavior. This study aims to investigate what kind of seabed topography around the Noto Peninsula influences the refraction behavior of tsunamis and to obtain knowledge that can contribute to disaster prevention. In this research, the propagation of tsunami, which occurred from the northern coast of the Noto Peninsula, was compared between the cases of the original topography and both where the deep and shallow areas were modified. The study concluded that the tsunami generated off the northern coast of the Noto Peninsula refracts and propagates back toward the western part of the peninsula as it wraps around, due to the significant refraction effect caused by the trench located in the northern waters of the Noto Peninsula.
