Abstract: On site detention (OSD) calculations are required for a variety of land and infrastructure developments in Australia. Calculations are varied and depend on each authority’s requirement. Inputs like Intensity Frequency Duration (IFD) data, runoff coefficients and design storms come from multiple sources including Bureau of Meteorology (BOM), Australian Rainfall & Runoff (AR&R) DataHub, various authority guidelines etc. These culminate in a time consuming, error-prone process to perform OSD calculations. OSD calculations have multiple outputs and values. Manually compiling these into a report is a time-sink that impacts project and report turnaround times. The project aims to address the challenges above. The outcome is OSDs For VIPs, an online software tool that provides OSD calculations and reports in accordance with various guideline requirements. Inputs such as IFD data, runoff coefficients and design storms are automatically loaded based on latitude, longitude and guidelines for each OSD method. OSD reports are comprehensive and automatically generated to include input data, results, graphs, intermediate calculations values & standard drawing and technical documents of OSD storage device specified. OSDs For VIPs provide significant time savings and double as an educational tool.
