Abstract: Shoreline variation analysis and prediction play an important role for integrated coastal zone management. It becomes more pressing in the context of climate change and sea level rise. Nowadays, there are lot of methods to assess the change of shoreline such as: Geodetic survey and GPS, Aerial photography, Airborne videography, Video systems, Remote sensing. However, the last technique increasingly competitive compared to the others due to the long time acquisition data, the observed capacity in larger scale and the cost. Therefore, with the aims of providing an overview about the shoreline variation in Danang city, Vietnam over the past time, as well predicting the change tendency for future, the remote sensing technique is chosen to apply for more than 61.92 km of length along to the bay of this city. Analyzing the Landsat image, the study demonstrates initially shoreline change tendency in this area. Accordingly, the erosion/deposition activity accuses vigorously and complicatedly in Danang bay over forty past years with 7418317.48 m2 of erosion and 7908058.39 m2 of deposition concentrating in six essential places.
