Abstract: Here we focus on both direct and indirect impacts of wind waves on coastal areas by using numerical models, aerial images, and case studies from the UK and USA. Direct impacts include coastal erosion, breaching of coastal barriers, and sediment resuspension; indirect impacts include long-term changes in sediment fluxes, changes in flood-prone areas and ecosystem shifts.
