Abstract: The numerical modelling of the pathogen intrusion phenomenon in a pipeline is interesting, since it represents an unusual event that causes great implications in the supply networks. The presence of pressure drop situations can cause that the surrounding liquids exterior to the pipe both permanent and transient regime, penetrating into the clean water flow across defects in the pipes. Therefore, a potential contamination is possible. This is particularly interesting in points prior to a bifurcation, where the potentially contaminated flows can be distributed in the different affected branches. This research presents a numerical model of this process in the vicinity of a modelled bifurcation of the contaminating matter that can be derived in each part of the cross point.
