Abstract: This research considers vegetation as a natural alternative for coastal protection. Various physical and numerical models, as well as real cases, show an attenuation of water height, decrease in velocities and loss of wave energy when approaching the coastline. The Telemac-2D numerical model will be used that solves the equations of Saint Venant and Bousnisseq, where a new tsunami wave and vegetation interaction model will be added, the implementation will be through the parameterization of the force exerted by the plants through the equations by Morison. The model shows good precision and allows us to improve this type of simulation of wave propagation over vegetation areas through open and free code.
