Abstract: The paper deals with brief overview of the current adaptation practices for Japanese river management against climate change. The estimation of climate change effect becomes possible in Japan using so-called database For Policy Decision making for Future climate change (d4PDF and d2PDF). The primary analysis of climate change which may happen in Japan has been carried out using the mega ensemble data sets, d4 and d2PDF. Though the reports of the detailed analysis have been published by the national river authority, the national river authority temporarily proposed that actual river planning is to be carried out based on the increase factor of the rainfall intensity between present and future. Likewise, the implementation of river basin flood control management was proposed with legal framework by the national river authority and to cope with climate change is one of the pillar of the new activity. The presentation introduces these activities in Japan.
