Abstract:
The Yellow River (Huang He) is the mother river of the Chinese nation, the second longest river in China, and the fifth longest river in the world. It originates on the northern foot of the Bayan Har Mountains on the Qinghai-Xizang Plateau, traversing four major geomorphic regions (the Qinghai-Xizang Plateau, the Inner Mongolia Plateau, the Loess Plateau, and the North China Plain) and the three major east–central–west topographic steps of China.
