Abstract:

The Administrative Hydrological Region (RHA) XII, which includes Yucatán, Campeche, and Quintana Roo, is under the jurisdiction of the Yucatán Peninsula Basin Council (CCPY) (Figure 1). This region is characterized by a karst system where groundwater is the main source of water supply. This aquifer is highly vulnerable to contamination and saltwater intrusion. Although water availability currently exists, urban, industrial, and livestock activities generate pollution that threatens public health, highlighting the need for a more integrated water management approach.
